Vessel Hotel Higashi - Hiroshima

Get the breakfast, it was great. The place is comfortable, and the meals were nice.

I love that concierge. She was kind and helpful, even though her English wasn't strong and my Japanese was very weak. We couldn't stay because there wasn't an available wheelchair-accessible room. There may not even be one that would work for my very able daughter with her small chair. The concierge helped us get to the Route Inn, which had an accessible room, and I really want to praise her for that. If you're not disabled, this seems like a fine hotel. If you are, don't rely on my experience for booking: I didn't use the right search features and assumed most rooms would be accessible. Why would anyone build new hotels that aren't accessible?

The breakfast was marvelous, the beds were comfortable, and the pillows were quite large. A convenience store is within walking distance, and if you forget a toothbrush or towel, one is provided. They go beyond what I expected, and I had a great stay. The occasional drop in shower water temperature was the one drawback, though I was with a large group and we may all have been showering at once. The bathroom fan didn't seem to work, but maybe it's just very quiet. I'd stay again if I'm in Hiroshima.

Veena Worlds, India, our tour operator, booked this budget hotel, and it felt like good value for the money. The rooms are compact, and so is the toilet, but it's ultra-modern. We didn't mind that the wash basin was outside the toilet, forming part of the room. The interior looked up to date, and the hotel was within walking distance of D Bullet train station.
