Izuatagawa Onsen Miharuya

The kaiseki dinner was the best meal I’ve ever had. I savored every bite, and breakfast was delicious too. I don’t usually eat fish or miss having it for breakfast, but the local cooks made it worthwhile. My husband, friends, and I stayed one night and had a wonderful time. The hotel is beautiful, the hot springs are a real treat, and the recently renovated interior feels fresh while keeping its traditional character.

The kaiseki was the standout, absolutely wonderful. Our Japanese friend even said it was the best kaiseki they’d ever had. Breakfast was fantastic too, and I wish we could have stayed longer than one night. We booked the full package, including the sand bath, and everything was lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms and facilities were gorgeous and freshly renovated, and there are several great onsens for unwinding, including a private one up the mountain. On the steep slopes of Atagawa near the coast, this place is a gem for a relaxing stay. We hope to return.

When a typhoon suspended the trains after checkout, the hotel kindly drove us to our next stop, Atami. It took a little over an hour, and we’re very grateful for their care and hospitality. The service was excellent throughout. The hotel is an elegant, cozy onsen inn less than a minute’s walk from Izu-Atagawa Station. Our rate included both the standard and private baths. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable, and the authentic Japanese course meal was delicious. We’ll definitely stay again when we visit Izu-Atagawa.

The food was awesome, and the staff were friendly. I really liked the private onsen.
