A wonderful summer trip to Higashikawa, from July 25 to 27, 2024. We were so glad to spend those three days here. Special thanks to Mika and Osamu for such a warm, friendly welcome and for recommending so many great places to see. Each moment in the gallery house felt special as we looked at the artwork and decorations you created. Thank you.

We rented the whole storehouse, and it turned out even better than we’d imagined. Our family of four had a lovely time. Upstairs are two bedrooms, a twin room and a single room with a mattress in the loft. Since it was July and the loft might get hot, they set out futons for us in the second-floor living room instead. Mr. Miyama’s large landscape photographs were impressive. You could see the thoughtful hospitality everywhere, and the whole place felt like an escape from the everyday.

Inside the stone storehouse is a photo gallery with a feeling of being cut off from the outside world, which made it easy to focus on the pictures. You can get up close to huge images of beautiful scenery from Daisetsuzan that you can’t see on the website. They’re really impressive!
