A big onsen and really kind staff.

It's an older building, but the hot springs are roomy and the food is delicious. There's no open-air bath, though you can open the windows, and I think it's a good inn if you want to enjoy the hot springs. Carpet on the stairs and hallways keeps footsteps from carrying, but doors opening and closing were noisy. Also, the toilet seat isn't a heated bidet, so it could catch you off guard as the colder seasons come 😅

I left earlier today, December 29th, 2023. I'm HUNG, and wanted to tell you last night, but got back too late and there was nobody at the front desk. This morning there weren't any taxis either. Luckily I met a kind taxi driver and somehow made it onto the Shinkansen. Seishokan's hot springs were wonderful, and all my travel fatigue went away. Picking Seishokan for my first traditional Japanese inn experience was absolutely the right choice. I'll definitely return when I come back to Japan. Thanks so much for everything!

Dinner and breakfast were satisfying in both taste and quantity. The facilities are old and the air conditioning wasn't working properly, but I liked the traditional inn atmosphere. The large public bath is a lovely space, even though it's indoors only and has no open-air bath. I was curious about the record by the front desk, but checked out without taking a look. I'd like to see it next time if I visit again. There aren't any convenience stores nearby, but there are two just before you turn off National Route 13 and enter Higashine Onsen, so I'd stop there first.

Everyone was so friendly, it was an inn that warmed my heart. The building is old but well maintained, and I could really relax. I spent two nights here on my first trip to Yamagata. The food was delicious and generous, and the bath water was brown, a little hot, soft, and very warming. Thank you ♪ ^ ^
