The price we got for the room was great. It had that old Showa-era Japanese hotel feel, with plenty to poke around and discover, including a karaoke room and a games room. Finding somewhere to eat late was difficult, though. Still, we had a great stay.

The buffet meals stood out, with fresh local seafood and seasonal ingredients at both breakfast and dinner. We also liked the onsen, which has indoor and outdoor baths, and the rooms were spacious and clean. Many have balconies facing the ocean, with views over Beppu Bay. There’s also a large pool, tennis courts, and facilities for families. The resort is quiet but conveniently placed for visiting Beppu and Oita. Hotel Solage Oita・Hiji makes a relaxing Kyushu stay if you’re after hot springs and sea views.

The bay view from the onsen was beautiful, and there’s another great view from the restaurant. We arrived late at night, but Sumisu Kumar, one of the friendly staff members, took great care of my friend and me. The rooms were lovely too. We had a really good stay, and the hotel and staff deserve a lot of praise. Thank you!

Dinner was great, and the onsen was good too. You can watch the sunrise here. I’d recommend coming by car, though. The hotel accepts tour groups, so it can get crowded.

It’s a quiet place, and a good choice if you’re trying to avoid crowds around Beppu. The hotel feels a little old school and is a bit far from the city, about 20-30 minutes from Beppu City.
