Hotel Estacion Hikone

We had room 707, a Japanese style room with a fantastic castle view. It was cozy and comfortable, with panoramic windows that opened for fresh air and a nice bath. The staff were friendly, and although I speak a fair bit of Japanese, I don’t think you need to in order to get by. It’s only a few minutes’ walk from Hikone station. We were just passing through for a night and wished we could stay longer. We booked online through Airbnb, though there are other ways to book, some apparently include a check-in beer. Even without that, you can buy from a decent beer selection at the first floor desk. Please stay here and enjoy!

The continental breakfast was good, with bread, yoghurt, pudding, cereal, coffee, and juice. They also sell imported beers on the first floor, which were nice to have outside at sunset. The hotel is close to the station and castle, with restaurants nearby and an Aeon supermarket across the station for bento, snacks, or whatever. We stayed two nights. The room was clean and fine for two, with a kettle, hair dryer, TV, fridge, and ethernet cable. There’s a vending machine and microwave on the 2nd floor. I’d stay again if I’m in town.

Breakfast was available, though there wasn’t much to expect from it. The room was clean and basic. The AC, controlled from the room, ran in intervals and made a bit of noise.

A staff member entered without the customer’s permission. This is a very dangerous hotel for women. Very dangerous hotel.
