Hostel Kaisei Taniyon

I booked a room while attending a live concert at Osaka Castle Hall. It's about a 20-minute walk from Osaka Castle Park, and Tanimachi 4-chome subway station is roughly 5-6 minutes away on foot. There are major restaurants and a supermarket nearby, so the area would work for a longer stay too. I phoned ahead to reserve a parking spot, which made parking straightforward, and it was handy to be able to come and go once the car was parked. The building and rooms feel fairly new and were clean. I've stayed at Super Hotel branches around the country, and they tend to be simple, eco-friendly, and clean. The desk staff were professional and courteous, and I had no particular noise issues. My room was roomier than expected, with a desk, chair, and large TV. I was happy with it. The unit bath is small, and the Western-style toilet is small too, but that wasn't a problem for me. There's a tub, though I imagine most people would use it as a shower. The space overall is tight, probably hard to avoid in this location. The wiring behind the TV was surprisingly tangled, and there was some noticeable dust back there. On the plus side, there are USB-C and Lightning charging ports, along with power outlets for the TV, stand, and refrigerator. At check-in they give you a six-digit code for the door keypad instead of a room key. The hotel entrance also uses the code late at night. It's disposable and only works for that guest that day, so there's no worry about losing or having a key copied. The front desk area opens into a compact lounge that also serves as the breakfast room. There was a welcome drink, with soft drinks from a machine and a few kinds of alcohol, available until about 8 PM. A microwave is nearby, so you can bring snacks from the neighborhood and have a simple dinner or evening drink there. It isn't available if you check in late. Breakfast is described as free and is a simple offering, without buffet variety, but fine for a quick meal. I found it tasty and was satisfied. The room had everything I needed, and I really liked the bed and being able to choose a pillow. The lounge and the receipt they gave at check-in are shown in the image.
