The homemade Hikone street map was one of the best parts, and helped us figure out how to reach the station, rent bikes, and get to Hikone Castle and Lake Biwa. People have already said plenty about the food and atmosphere. After a long trip, the hosts' exceptional hospitality made the place feel like home. The bath was roomy and relaxing, just right for winding down after cycling around Hikone all day.

Kiyotaki Ryokan is an old, charming, beautiful place, and I had an amazing stay. The owner and his wife are wonderful, and the owner's cooking was the best dinner I had in Japan. They lend bikes for free, and I rode all the way to Nagahama! ❤️🚴🏻♀️

The lobby had a charming feel, and the staff were really friendly. We had a tatami-style room with comfortable futons. The place also operates as a restaurant. We stayed one night, but I wish we'd had more time.

The price is very reasonable, and the host was tremendously kind. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent traditional food, better than what we've had in many restaurants. It's conveniently near the center and a nice market and entertainment district. They even gave us a ride to the train station. A wonderful traditional ryokan, highly recommend!

The host was very friendly, and the ryokan is well located. My room had a bit of a wet bamboo smell, and the linens were stained. The bathroom was big enough and very clean, and the AC and internet worked well.
