I liked the location and how close it is to Hakone station. The little cleanser and lotion packets are handy, and the shampoo and conditioner brand seemed nicer than some of the higher-end ones I've used over three weeks. I had trouble charging my phone and power bank. I'm guessing USB C isn't compatible here, though I haven't had much trouble elsewhere. Tip: there's a 24-hour power plug hidden behind the telephone and hand mirror. I only found it an hour before checkout, unfortunately.

The hotel is just minutes from the train station and has a lot of rooms. The free full breakfast is served in a dining area that can get very crowded in the mornings. Despite the trains being close by, it was relatively quiet at night. Recommended.

Everything was easy and well organized, and the staff and service were truly exceptional. When I became unwell, they really stepped up and made sure I was looked after. ✨️ 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The biggest drawbacks for me were the firm bed and pillows, plus the station noise coming through the weak soundproofing. The rooms are small, though that's normal in Japan, and the castle is a fair way away. Renting a bike at Hikone station makes the trip manageable, but there's nowhere safe to leave bikes at the hotel. For the area, I still think it's a good budget option.
