Jr Clement Inn Himeji

The staff were lovely, and I appreciated being able to leave my luggage there for a while after checkout. It was a very clean room with all the amenities I needed, though perhaps a little small. Himeji was a nice area to stay in, with restaurants nearby and the station just a short walk away. I had a great stay.

The coffee machine in reception was a handy touch, and there’s a local sento about a block away if you fancy one. My room was in good shape and spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I stayed one night before catching an early train, and the JR ticket gates were only about five minutes away. A really good business hotel.

Breakfast was delicious, especially the udon from Shikoku, and I enjoyed the 6-9 pm happy hour even though I don’t drink. After the heater was turned off on April 1, the weather still felt too cold for me, so the hotel brought me a portable heater. I also asked the staff to book a shared taxi for my trip to Bitchu Takahashi Castle, and they did it without hesitation. I stayed for six nights, and the service was excellent. The room was clean and big enough to open my 24-inch suitcase. There were lots of amenities to choose from, and the elevator was quick. Himeji Station is very close, with convenience stores, restaurants, and a shopping mall nearby. This will be my first choice when I visit Kansai again.

For the price, the hotel is alright, even if it feels a bit old. They try to make up for that with a modern USB charger, complimentary welcome drinks, and free ochazuke, or tea rice.
