Grass House

I stayed November 22-24, 2025. Although the website calls it a guesthouse, the setup feels more like a business hotel, with shared toilets, baths, and showers. It’s a little expensive for a guesthouse, but the dinner is generous and sumptuous. At an izakaya, would this menu cost 8,000 yen? When I think of it that way, it’s actually quite reasonable. On a sunny day, it’d be lovely to have a drink and lie in the grass. There’s a vending machine with cold beer, too. I had some of the late-night snack left over, so I took it back to my room. I was catching the first train and planned to have it for breakfast. That’s the amount of fried food, and it came with a few other dishes and a sashimi platter.

The inn has a lovely interior that’s worth taking pictures of, and it has a warm, cozy feel because it’s family-run. The food was amazing, really delicious, and I recommend it. I did feel that having a campsite right next door took away a little from the atmosphere. Yukata (Japanese robes) cost extra, so you might want to bring your own loungewear.

I went for a bath just before closing, around 9 PM. The water felt a little lukewarm, and unfortunately they’d forgotten my towel. It’s a family-run business, so maybe that can’t be helped, but I hope they improve those things. The view was nice and the service was kind, though, and I’d like to visit again another time.
