The Christian history around Hirado was a real highlight for me, and there are plenty of other sights too, including Hirado Castle, shrines, temples, and the Catholic churches built in the 1900's. The beach is a 10 minute walk away, or a 1 minute drive with free parking, and horseback riding is about 15 minutes on foot. We found it easy to keep our one year old busy in the kids' play area while I went to the onsen. Older kids could enjoy the karaoke, ping pong, manga, and arcade as well. The view is spectacular, the onsens are amazing, and the food is delicious. Our room was a little dated, though its bathroom had been recently renovated and the AC worked great. There wasn't any smoke smell in our room, either, something you can sometimes get in older hotels. Definitely recommend it for a family trip with young children.

There’s a lot to do indoors, from free karaoke and the arcade to hammocks for reading, a kids' play area, and table tennis. The huge onsen is especially relaxing, and one of them has a lovely view from high up. Our room was spacious and looked out over the sea, and the hotel itself is big. Breakfast and dinner are served buffet style, and we thought the food was good. It’s also close to the beach. I’d recommend a stay, especially if you find a good deal.

For just 8400en all inclusive, this was maybe the best deal I’ve ever found in Japan. The onsens are lovely and there are a lot of them, and our room was beautiful, huge, and had a big terrace. The food was good and plentiful too. Rain kept me from enjoying the beach and the views as much as I’d hoped, which was a pity. I was travelling solo, so sharing the room could make it even cheaper. I’d definitely like to come back when the weather’s nicer.

The large western/Japanese room had a balcony and a great view of the ocean, and for 12,000 yen with dinner and breakfast included, the price was very reasonable. I stayed on a Tuesday in the first week of August. The onsen uses water that’s brought in and heated. The place is showing its age, and I found lots of bugs and spiders, including two large spiders in my room. The food quality was low. It also gets loud, since many guests are families with young kids who are allowed to roam around freely. It’s OK for what you pay.

The location is good, and the standards are decent for a Japanese resort. My main issue was being put in an annex room without a view, with a long walk to both the bath and restaurant. The bath looks out over the sea, which is great, but the water isn’t natural and smells of chlorine. The all-you-can-eat dinner was really low quality.
