The free breakfast was a nice bonus, and the staff were kind. We also really enjoyed being able to use the vinyl records. Still, the upkeep issues made the stay uncomfortable. Both rooms showed signs of old water leaks, with heavy marks on the walls and ceilings and peeling walls. There was a persistent damp smell, plus a slight cigarette odor in one of the rooms. Without those problems, this would have been a five out of five stay.

The friendly staff made the stay feel peaceful, and the hotel is only a few minutes' walk from Hiratsuka Station. One practical note: many shops in town only take cash. There are good places to visit nearby, including @hiratsukahachiman Shrine and its special guardian horses @satsuki_kochi, plus @hachimanyama_yokan, the unusual pink house built in 1912 in Hachimanyama Park. It's a tangible cultural heritage house, and the park has a lovely rose garden in warm weather. For dinner, @sakana_yurari_hiratsuka is a great option. The hotel would be a nice place to rest after Hakone, Atami, or Odawara before continuing on to Kamakura or Enoshima. The spacious rooms have a cozy metro studio apartment feel. Ours had a big bath with mood lighting and bubbling water features, a vintage-style record player, and a vanity with soft lighting. Guests can borrow records from the lobby wall. There's also a cozy cafe where breakfast is served, with fresh bread and coffee, and stocked amenities shelves at each floor entrance. A lovely place for a short city break or a longer stay. ❤️

We had a fabulous time at this quirky little hotel, and the books scattered around the place were a lovely touch. The staff were very accommodating when we arrived soaked after a full day cycling in the rain. We especially liked young Minori, whose English was excellent and who was keen to practice and help us wherever she could. Petit-déjeuner was a nice extra, too. The turntable in our room got plenty of use, and there was a decent collection of LPs to choose from. We stayed in two different rooms, though, and the hard spring mattresses made it difficult for me to get comfortable. I hope management considers new mattresses or good toppers. The duvets also seemed much better suited to a cold winter house than a warm, humid summer. If you don't like a firm mattress, you may want to think twice about staying.

The staff were warm and helpful. They suggested a restaurant that turned out to be perfect and helped us book a table. The room was far more charming and well appointed than we'd expected. We hardly saw anyone else around, which made it quiet, just the way we like it.

The cafe and lobby were both great places to work, with strong, reliable WiFi. The cafe also has a free light breakfast and coffee from 6 to 10 am. When we arrived at Miss Morgan Hotel, the staff greeted us warmly and patiently answered our questions, even though our Japanese isn't very good. The room was surprisingly spacious, the bed was really comfortable, and there was a bathtub in the bathroom. I really enjoyed the week I spent there.
