Hotel Granvia Hiroshima South Gate

We had a lovely two-night stay and would happily come back. Everything went smoothly, from check-in and checkout to arranging luggage delivery. We arrived before check-in time, and staff showed us to the self-service luggage storage room, where shelves and locks kept our bags secure. Several staff members spoke very good English. Getting around is easy: the hotel connects to the JR station, and the city tram terminal is right outside the entrance. I found South Gate even more convenient than the older Hotel Granvia. At North Gate there's a Pokemon centre, and the Minamoa mall attached to the hotel has a Pokenmon themed playground on 9/F. We saw a long queue for the lunch buffet but didn't try it, though it seems popular. I was choosing among Hotel Granvia, Hotel Granvia South Gate, and the Sheraton. South Gate was the most expensive for the same room type, but turned out to be the best value. It offers an excellent location, spacious rooms, attentive staff, and good value for money. I'd recommend it to anyone considering a stay by the JR station. Jan 2026

The room was surprisingly quiet despite sitting above the train station, and it was spacious, with a couch, TV, and lots of storage. We could tuck luggage under the bed, hang clothes in the closet, and use the drawers under the TV. The beds were firm but comfortable, with decent pillows, and the bathroom amenities were nice. The shower pressure was the weakest I've ever had on my many trips to Japan, though it was still better than at US hotels. The hotel was new and nice, and the staff were friendly. Its location is about as convenient as I've seen: the elevator brings you steps from Hiroshima's streetcar and train lines, while taxis and buses are one floor down. The 2pm check-in and 11am checkout were a nice bonus. I stayed one night this past November and would consider returning for the location and room size.

The staff member who checked me in made the process feel personal, with thoughtful touches I don't usually get in Japan. The team was well trained, professional, and, above all, personable. The hotel is quite new, having opened just this spring, and the fresh rooms make good use of their space. My room also had an amazing view over Hiroshima. Its location is incredibly convenient, just a 10-second walk to the tram stop at Hiroshima Station. The value felt spot on for the cost, and I'd gladly return. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone asking where to stay in Hiroshima.

There’s plenty to do right inside the station, with restaurants, shops, groceries, and liquor stores. The hotel itself is practically next to Hiroshima Station, and it’s very well priced, especially compared with Tokyo. Our room was roomy and had lots of lighting choices, plus a bathroom with a Japanese toilet. Breakfast was a standout, with a big buffet of Japanese and Western dishes and food cooked to order. The lobby is spacious too, with lots of places to sit. Well worth staying here.
