RED HELMET House＆Sports Bar Hiroshima

There’s a Lawson just behind the building, and the 12-15 minute walk from the station really isn’t bad. For $70 for three nights, this felt like a crazy good deal. The bed is wide and big enough for me at 172 cm, with just a little ducking needed to get in. Leaving shoes at the entrance keeps the rooms clean enough to walk around barefoot. The 2F recreation area is huge, with lots of things to do with friends, and you can cook there too. The dryer worked so well that my clothes came out hot and dry.

It’s a clean, comfortable dorm with a cozy feel, attached to a sports bar. The lounge is stylish and well equipped for groups or families, and the showers and bathrooms were clean. Staff were friendly and helpful, too. One of them even lent me a Carps uniform for a baseball game. Just be prepared for some noise from other roommates. The room lights could also be dimmer at night, since the curtains don’t block enough light to make falling asleep easy. A good choice if shared spaces are fine with you.

Our group of six stayed in a Japanese-style room at the guest house beside the bar. It was spacious and clean, with its own shower and toilet, plus plenty of room for our luggage. Having an elevator made getting our bags up to the fourth floor easy. The staff were warm and welcoming, and happy to suggest things to do around Hiroshima. It’s only about five minutes from the station, so I’d recommend staying here.

The beds and building were clean, the location was great, and the staff were easygoing. The main drawbacks were the limited number of showers and the lack of air circulation in the bunks. The lights have to stay on, so opening the bunks wasn’t comfortable. Aside from that, I had a great stay.
