Weekly Appoint

There are three other weekly apartments they might send you to, and the one I got was within a five-minute walk of this place. I’d expected to stay right here, but was directed to one of the other apartments instead. Mine was quiet and didn’t cause any particular problems, though traffic noise could be loud at a different location. I asked about borrowing a blanket when I booked, and they later said one could be lent for an additional 220 yen if arranged in advance. They might not be able to provide one if you ask on the day.

Being able to cook in the hotel made it a good fit for me. The location is great for shopping too: Yume Mart nearby stays open until midnight, and there’s a Lawson and Seven-Eleven close by.

The receptionist was friendly, and at first the room seemed like a great deal: it was cheap, spacious, had a separate bathroom and toilet, and came with a microwave. But the cleanliness really let it down. There was an obvious built-up urine stain at the front of the toilet seat, the kind of mark that shouldn’t be there if the room had been properly cleaned. After seeing it, I felt disgusted and the whole experience was spoiled. The cups and other items were very dirty inside too. Maybe it would suit people who aren’t bothered by cleanliness.

I chose this place after comparing the comments and ratings, since hotel prices in the city seemed higher than in other prefectures and this one was reasonable. It’s near the station, and check-in at the first-floor reception was easy. For checkout, you just drop the key in a mailbox. We were a couple, paying 5000 yen each just to shower and sleep. For that price, I think it’s decent, and you still have your privacy. The reviews praised the kitchen and microwave, but opening the microwave in our room was a shock. It looked like it would take some courage to use. The bedding felt more like a guesthouse’s than a hotel’s, and wasn’t crisp. I was a little uneasy, so I put a towel over my pillow before bed. The area’s close to the station, but it gets quite dark at night and there aren’t many shops or people around. A woman travelling alone might find that scary. There’s also some spare space in the entrance where a vacuum cleaner would be useful.
