HIROSHIMA Base HOTEL

The baseball cap on the building made me smile. Inside, the room was very clean, breakfast was delicious, and the staff were friendly. Check-in went smoothly, the location worked well for us, and I liked all the modern touches. We loved our stay at Base Hotel and will be back for a Carps game.

Breakfast was a good start to the day: tea, coffee, or juice with toast, a tasty omelette, salad, and delicious corn soup. We stayed at Hiroshima Base Hotel in November 2019. It’s a no-frills place with a baseball theme. The bathroom was the smallest we had in Japan, with barely any space to move between the shower and toilet, though I suppose that was somewhat expected. On arrival, there was a squashed herring fish on the sitting mat.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and the tatami sleeping area was a pleasant surprise. There’s a roomy hall with a kitchen and what you need to cook, plus a fridge with a freezer. It’s a good option close to 59 train station, with connections to the shinkansen and local trains to Itsukushima.

The room was clean, and they provide eating and cooking things like a stove, plates, glasses, and even a microwave. The staff understood English fairly well. It feels like staying in a Japanese house, which is great, but being so close to Hiroshima train station meant I couldn’t sleep well.
