Hotel Amimoto

There wasn't enough space for two people, let alone our luggage. The room was too small, and it didn't have a hair dryer.

About 24 hours after booking through the website, I got a call saying the property was fully booked and I couldn't stay. That surprised me because I'd checked several sites to compare prices, and each showed two rooms available. I couldn't reach them by phone, so they simply told me to cancel. I was disappointed, since I'd thought I'd found a reasonably priced stay.

The parking area beside the hotel is tiny. With four cars there, it's hard even to open the driver's door enough to get out. There's no washing machine, so I wouldn't choose this place for more than one night. They also insisted I give them a meal time, even when I explained I couldn't know because of work or errands. They wouldn't be flexible. The front desk was nearly always empty, and the service was extremely poor. Honestly, an internet cafe would be cheaper and more convenient. I've stayed at hotels and inns all over the country, but I wouldn't want to come back here.

For 8,570 yen, the twin room included breakfast and dinner. The hotel is a business place run by a restaurant company, fairly close to the station, with free parking for regular cars. Dinner is served at a sister restaurant specializing in cuisine, so getting there is inconvenient, though the food was good for this sort of hotel, about restaurant standard. Breakfast was much better at a typical Route Inn. The parking situation was awkward. There are only four spaces in front, and the lot near Amimoto Annex is about 220m away. The window side of the twin room was cold, with chill coming straight through the glass, and even full-power heating didn't do enough. The mattress had cheap springs and didn't distribute pressure well, so my back hurt. The unit bathroom fan squeaked loudly, and there was a step of about 20cm between the bathroom and the room. Breakfast started late, at 7:00 AM, though you could enter from 6:45. The Wi-Fi was slow and barely worked in the unit bathroom. It kept disconnecting, making it practically unusable. Download tests averaged 21Mbps on an iPhone 15 Pro and 13Mbps on a Pixel 9, based on three tests on each phone. The key is a regular cylinder type like an apartment key, not a card. They didn't seem especially concerned about outsiders coming and going, so it felt similar to renting a room in an apartment building.
