Dinner was the standout for me. I ordered spiny lobster, which I hadn’t expected much from, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise: a roughly 30 cm lobster served as sashimi and grilled half, usually with gratin. We enjoyed shrimp worth 20,000-30,000 yen too, and the chef clearly knows how to choose shrimp. That meal made such an impression that the other drawbacks faded away. The fishing grounds have also changed because of global warming. After checkout, we shopped at the fish center next door, though it wasn’t as lively as Nakaminato. There was no early cleaning while we were checking out, so we could leave feeling refreshed. Many places start cleaning around 9:00, and dinner here may be worth trying. Sunpia, the Employees' Pension Vacation Center, was renovated a few years ago. It has tennis courts, a gymnasium, and a pool that guests use often. The guest rooms are on the fourth and fifth floors of the five-story building, with only about 20-30 rooms. Our Japanese-Western room was spacious and comfortable, with two bedrooms, a TV, and a separate Japanese-style room. There are only two of these rooms, so booking early is best. I heard guests on the fourth floor had some noise from tennis, so I’d recommend the fifth floor. The beds are large, but the comforters felt thin and heavy, and should be replaced with lighter down ones. The refrigerator is compressor-type. The bath isn’t a hot spring, and it also serves day visitors. It’s not big enough to count as a large public bath, with capacity for around 10 people. When I checked in at 3 a.m., the guest parking lot was already full, so parking management needs improvement. In February and March, student and children's club training camps can be noisy. The bath mats are often left unwiped, so they should be changed more frequently.

I stayed in a Japanese-Western style room with my child on our first trip together. It was spacious, very clean, and the facilities seemed new, so I thought it was good value. I was grateful for the attentive, courteous help I received from the time I first asked about the stay. The large public bath was clean, though it may not be the best choice if you’re looking for a hot spring.

The value for money really surprised me when I later asked about the price. It’s popular with families, and convenient too, with things like a coin laundry. The staff were warm and friendly, the facility was clean, and the food was delicious. The monkfish hotpot was a bit much for women, but it tasted good, and dessert was very tasty as well. We drove about 30 minutes to Kamiiso Torii gate to watch the sunrise before breakfast. Apparently you can also see a beautiful sunrise from your room. I look forward to staying again.

I booked breakfast with the room, but the meal service was a bit of a hassle 😅. It was the final day of a three-day weekend, and I had to queue while the staff seemed short-handed, rushing between serving food and managing the line. Since it wasn’t a buffet, we waited more than 10 minutes for rice and miso soup. My child’s meal was mostly vegetables, and he left over half of it. There were several small side dishes, and rice refills were available, but you had to call over a busy staff member. Drinks were self-service, so I think rice and miso soup could be too. Calling someone for more food felt a little embarrassing, and I imagine some women may find it hard to ask. I’d like to see that improved.

The food was very satisfying, both in taste and portion size, for breakfast and dinner. The hotel was clean and nice, and though there’s only an indoor bath, it wasn’t crowded during my stay, so I could relax. It’s a little far away, but you can see the ocean from your room. Next time I’d like to use the pool in summer.
