The staff were really welcoming and friendly. It’s a bit of a walk from the station, though once you’ve figured out the route, it’s easy to find. There weren’t many people working, so I appreciated how hard they were trying.
The food is a big part of why I’d happily stay here again. There was plenty of home-style cooking, and if you can arrive by 6 PM, the late-night snack is worth trying. The servings are generous, so come hungry or let them know in advance if you don’t eat much. I’ve stayed twice for work and found the proprietress and staff thoughtful, with a warm, homey atmosphere. The rooms were spotless and the beds comfortable, even though the building looks old and has no elevator. Supermarkets and restaurants nearby are handy, too.
It’s a relaxing place, although noise from the next room and passing cars can be heard.
The Hitachiota koshihikari rice at breakfast was delicious, and I really liked the miso soup made with homemade miso. The hotel itself is old, but clean. I only had breakfast, and the outdoor smoking area was conveniently right by my room.
Breakfast was a highlight for me: the Koshihikari from Hitachiota was delicious, and the pickled plums and miso seemed homemade and tasted great. The rooms have just the basics, and the place has a real Showa-era business hotel feel. I stayed on a breakfast plan and would come back as my regular place when work takes me to Hitachiota.
