The hot sand bath is available, if that's what you're looking for, but the place itself felt eerie and abandoned to me. There are restricted areas, and I'm not sure what the hotel's history is. The second and seventh floors had no lights in the evening, which made walking there feel like being in a horror movie. I also noticed algae and mold around the building, adding to the neglected feeling. I wouldn't recommend staying here. I suppose it may be one of the area's few hotels, and perhaps considered one of the "best" by local standards, but that was my impression.

The Iwasaki Museum was the biggest attraction for me, with a surprisingly large collection of artifacts from Papua New Guinea. The hotel itself is cavernous, and I can only imagine what it costs to run the air conditioning. It was built in 1983 and definitely shows its age, but there's still something charming about the place. The sand baths are there too.

The buffet has plenty to satisfy an appetite, and the sand bath left me feeling years younger. I rode my motorcycle all the way down from Tokyo to get here.

The Japanese spa is great, including the outdoor Jakajee, and the buffet is good, though not outstanding. A 350cc glass costs ¥650, cash only. WiFi worked well in the room, but not in the hotel restaurant. The place has a classic, old facility feel, and the room could use refurbishment.

From the seventh floor the views were wonderful, and the elevators were the fastest I've ever used. There was no waiting at all. The fireworks show was great, and the staff were very patient with English speakers.
