There's a kick-ass aquarium right in the lobby. The food at the Onsen was good quality too. I tried quite a few menu items at different times and wasn't disappointed. I kept coming back to this Onsen, and it was worth the drive from Kagoshima City each time. There are lots of baths at different temperatures, and those big tubs or barrels, whatever you'd call them, were especially relaxing under a clear night sky. The steam room is well designed. Private rooms aren't expensive and are worth booking for an hour. Each has a basket of rubber ducks, but they aren't numbered, so a duck race takes extra care and concentration.

Ibusuki is peaceful, and this hotel made a great base for our stay. The Japanese-style room was spacious, and we booked the onsen package with half board. The food was delicious and very traditional. Staff were available around the clock, even when we locked ourselves out of the room at 3am.

The room was very clean, and I enjoyed the hot spring's range of different types. It was very good overall, but I was disappointed that the hotel had no WiFi hotspot.
