Ibusuki Seaside Hotel

I wasn't impressed by the look of the place when I arrived, but a hot spring hotel’s appearance isn’t what matters most. Some things can’t be measured in money. The sand bath was amazing, and you really have to try it. The sand covered everything, so only the two areas where I felt slightly uncomfortable reacted properly. I drove here today for just one day. If you’re older, you might come by plane or train and stay for about a week. It’s even better because there aren’t any in the city around.

The unforgettable part was the “Suna-mushi”, a distinctive bath offered by the hotel, so don’t miss it. The large dining hall can host tour groups, and the food was delicious. The lobby is bright and spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows facing east and lovely views over Kagoshima Bay in both morning and evening. On sunny days, the sunrise is spectacular. Our guest room was nice, and the toilet was clean.

The facilities feel old, as if time stopped 20 years ago. There’s no WiFi in the room, only on the 1st/ground floor. Our room was clean and had recently been renovated. The natural Onsen was okay, and the food decent. The workers were dedicated to giving us an excellent experience and put in 110% all the time.

The traditional Japanese banquet was the best part. The sand hot bath was decent too, but the place is old, and our room had a funky smell.
