Shirabiso Kogen Amanogawa

I stayed on November 2, 2025, arriving by motorcycle after enjoying the curves over the mountain pass. It seems like a place bikers might enjoy. The food was delicious despite the high altitude, and the scenery was beautiful. I was on the Biker Support Plan, maybe that's why they gave me a local sticker. Around 7:00 AM it snowed, apparently the first snowfall of the season. The area quickly turned white, and I thought I wouldn't be able to get back on the road. The staff spread salt and calcium carbonate and helped shovel, then let me stay until around noon even though checkout was at 10:00 AM. Once the snow stopped, the roads were clear and I could leave. It was cloudy during my stay, so I missed the stars, but I'd like to come back and try again. Thank you!

Without the stars, this was just an ordinary place to stay. It was cloudy and we couldn't see many, which can't be helped, but that's why I'm judging the hotel without the stars. I probably won't return, though the staff were so kind and wonderful, speaking to us very politely. The room was spacious enough for two, and the binoculars there were a thoughtful touch for enjoying the view. Staff spoke gently and made me feel at ease. The hard pillow suited me, but my wife couldn't sleep well and was short on sleep. There was no refrigerator in the room, just a shared one in the hallway. The mountain air was cool and there's a fan, but after a bath it got a little hot, so people who run warm might find that bothersome. I couldn't keep track of the dishes either. A foreign trainee? served them one after another, and the menu had long names full of kanji that were hard to match. Even a simple one-word explanation would help, LOL. My biggest concern was the lack of a room refrigerator. With all that space, I thought they could fit one.

The Southern Nagano Rural Inbound Consortium arranged my two-night stay with two Czech ladies visiting Japan. The meals were generous, and breakfast and dinner differed from the day before. We also enjoyed two bottles of wine last night.

We arrived on a brutally hot day, with temperatures nearing 40 degrees Celsius nationwide, but it was a cool 19 degrees here and we didn't need air conditioning. The scenery was lovely in daylight and at night. There was plenty of tasty food, and though the bath wasn't a hot spring, it left our skin feeling really smooth.
