Business Hotel Yamatoya

We stayed during Golden Week. The location and parking worked well for traveling by car, and breakfast was delicious. The landlady was polite and made the stay very pleasant. We’ll definitely come back when we visit Iizuka City, my wife’s hometown.

I was here on a long business trip, staying four nights from February 6th to 9th. Whether I came back tired or left early in the morning, the landlady always sent me off with a smile, in a very motherly way. I felt like I could just say, “I’m home!” She seems like someone everyone loves. They also prepared breakfast for me, which gave me a boost of energy. Thank you so much. I’d definitely like to stay at Yamato-ya again when work brings me to Iizuka City. Thanks again!

Shin-Iizuka Station is close by, and the inn is quiet since it’s off the main road. The friendly landlady gives you a warm welcome. I’d be more likely to use it for a short vacation than for business. It’s easy to tell it was probably a ryokan before, and it’s set up as an inexpensive place to stay. You can lock the bathroom from inside the changing room, which feels safe. The bath is a bit like one you’d find in a larger house.

As other people have said, there was an old, stale smell. The Japanese dolls scattered around were creepy, too. We felt like the spirit of a red-kimono doll we shouldn’t have taken home had followed us. The kids were so frightened they couldn’t sleep, so we left in the morning. The landlady, though, was very polite.
