We had a western-style twin room with a fantastic ocean view, and the breakfast and dinner were outstanding. I stayed with my mom at Seaside Inn, which is run by a lovely family. It’s fairly remote, though two amazing beaches are right nearby, and the airport is close if you’re flying in from Nagasaki. Yasuo kindly picked us up on arrival and was very helpful arranging taxis during our stay. There’s a communal bath as well as the private en suite bathroom in our room, and the coin laundry came in handy. I loved staying here and can’t recommend it enough!

Being right by one of Japan’s most beautiful beaches is what makes this place appealing. The accommodation itself feels a lot like a youth hostel.

The person in charge was really friendly and made us feel welcome. It was a good place to stay, with two beautiful beaches close by that were lovely for swimming. Record family with children

I chose this place because it was closest to the ocean, and Seaside really did live up to its name. This was my first trip to Iki, and my first remote-island trip too. At night the stars were incredible, something I don’t get to see in the city. The landlady said that on some nights the moonlight can hide them. In the morning, the sandy beach was only a short walk away, and watching the sunrise there was spectacular. I sometimes see the sun come up from a mountain while hiking, but over the sea it was beautiful in a different way. The water was crystal clear too, though it was too cold for me to swim when I visited. The food was delicious and really filling. I thought the portions looked a little small at first, but the dishes kept coming, and it was great to eat food freshly cooked. Since Iki is also the birthplace of shochu, I enjoyed plenty of it. The internet connection worked well, and the staff were friendly. The landlady has a personality all her own. I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy the scenery or is a little tired of the city.
