Business Ryokan Shofuku

The hearty included breakfast was a nice surprise, while dinner wasn't part of the stay. I came for a road bike event, and there's Wi-Fi plus parking when space is available. Groups of five or more might enjoy the inn more than solo travelers, which could feel a little lonely. I'm not local, but everything seemed walkable, so the location worked well. There's a bath on site, though I went to a nearby hot spring instead. The visit brought back memories of school trips, and I had a great time. I'd happily return.

The steep stairs are the main catch, since there's no elevator and they could be difficult for some people. Otherwise, this is a clean, nicely kept inn with a roomy bathroom and clean toilet. The Imabari brand towels feel especially good after a bath.

Staying here made the meaning of a business hotel pretty clear. The food was just edible, so a room-only plan might be the better choice. The inn is in a shuttered shopping street near the port, and realizing that after I arrived didn't make a great impression. Of the 28 places I stayed through a travel support program, this was one of the least satisfying.

We came as a group and appreciated the Wi-Fi, which was strong enough for browsing and consistently showed four bars for me. There are amenities and a hairdryer, but the refrigerator, toilet, sink, and bath are shared. Some rooms are divided by sliding doors, so I'd suggest the third floor. There are only four parking spaces for regular cars, though motorcycles are fine, and the road outside is one-way. The place is old, and there are steep stairs with no elevator.
