We had delicious Japanese meals for both breakfast and dinner, and all the staff were very friendly. They didn’t speak much English, but we managed to communicate without any trouble. My husband and I stayed here while cycling the islands. Our room was clean and had a beautiful sea view. The toilets and the onsen and shower were shared, which didn’t bother us since they were mostly empty and very clean.

It was my first stay while cycling the Shimanami Kaido, and your kindness really made my day and helped me feel ready to keep going. Thanks for accommodating my limited Japanese, my lack of cultural knowledge, and my late request for dinner.

The hotel is very poorly maintained.

The meals were a real feast, mostly fish dishes with lots to choose from: sashimi, boiled fish, turban shells, tempura with Hakata salt, clear soup, chawanmushi, and more. I left full. The hostess was friendly and easy to talk to, which makes this a good option for motorcycle travelers like me and cyclists on the Shimanami Kaido. It’s a rustic guesthouse by the sea in the Aritsu area of Hakata Island, with that quintessential minshuku feel. The fish is freshly caught from the tanks, and you can even fish right in front of the inn. I’d recommend it to anyone who likes that kind of atmosphere. The rooms were clean, though the old doors slam loudly. I tried to be careful, but some people apparently don’t mind. The toilet has a washlet, but some private rooms were out of order. There are large public baths for men and women, with four showers. The necessary parts have been repaired, and it’s now possible to stay comfortably. Still, parts of the building are run down and its age shows. There’s no elevator, so keep that in mind if stairs are a concern. It’s far away, so I may not get the chance to return, but I’d stay again if I do. Thank you very much.

My family and I stayed at this inn while cycling the Shimanami Kaido. The meals were delicious, made with fresh local fish, and the landlady was so kind that we had a very comfortable stay.
