I liked the snack room, and it was handy that laundry was inside the building and included in our stay. The dryers, though, are in another building, but it’s very close and they’re really cheap. The shared areas were clean and the staff in the building were kind. The room was comfortable and clean too. I might have preferred checking in face to face with staff, but doing it by video call was pretty quick and easy.

It was easy to check in, even though the whole process was remote over a video call with staff. The common areas were lovely, and the traditional old wooden house was beautiful. My room was cozy and comfortable, and the futon had a heated blanket that kept me warm on the coldest nights. They provide shower products, and there’s warm water everywhere.

The hosts made me feel welcome as soon as I arrived, and the common spaces were warm and inviting. Hostel Murasaki in Takayama exceeded all my expectations: it was spotless and well maintained, with comfortable beds. The location was perfect for exploring Takayama, and for the price it was an outstanding stay. Highly recommended!

We loved the spacious, comfortable Japanese-style room, especially the electric blankets that helped on cold winter nights alongside the heating. The wooden house has a lot of charm, and there’s a great BBQ room. It’s close to everything and had everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.

The place was clean and the staff friendly, though a few could communicate better. Check-in was quick, but there was a lot to read, which felt tedious after walking around all day with a heavy backpack. The location is great, and I enjoyed my stay.
