Villa Inawashiro

It’s around 3 km from Inawashiro station, so you can get there by bus or taxi. The ski area is nearby, and the price works out quite well if you book with a ski ticket and equipment rental.

The ski resort is right outside, and the hotel is good value in a convenient spot. There’s a plentiful breakfast, while dinner is a buffet with different traditional Fukushima dishes. At the grilling station, a chef oversees things and you can order tasty grilled steak. The rooms are Japanese style, and staff come in to make the beds while you’re eating. There are ski storage rooms and regular lockers, which helped since we arrived early and couldn’t check in yet. One small thing: a few cabinet corners were dusty, as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a while. I really liked the hotel and would stay again if I got the chance.

The place was quiet and pleasant, but our Golden Week stay cost twice as much as weekdays. We booked room only, so dinner meant driving down the mountain. A lot of restaurants were closed around lunchtime, leaving us with izakayas to choose from. Also, the bidet in the toilet at the back of the bathroom seemed broken and wouldn’t work.
