Rinkokan

The view of the Kiso River and across to Gifu Prefecture was excellent. This hot spring inn sits by the river at the foot of Inuyama Castle. The building is old, but the rooms are clean and well maintained. The rate is reasonable, the hot spring bath is included, and the service is attentive. They even let us leave our car after checkout so we could keep sightseeing in the castle town. It was a comfortable place with considerate service.

I came here for work, and since I usually stay in business hotels, it had been a while since I'd stayed at a proper ryokan. It felt like the inn was run by a very kind elderly couple. The hot spring was great and left my skin smooth. The Kiso River view in front of the ryokan was lovely. I went out early in the morning and came back freezing, so I took a bath. The floor was really slippery and I fell, but because it was so smooth, I didn't slide or get hurt.

I stayed without meals and found it very good. The place was spacious and the hot spring water was nice, so I'd say it's good for people who want to enjoy a bath at their own pace. If you grew up in the Showa era, it's a perfect place to stay.

The building had an old Showa-era feel. The room was old and the washroom area was small, but it seemed well cleaned. The food wasn't especially luxurious, but it was tasty and satisfying. I enjoyed the bath, too.
