KIKITSU Station Hotel

We stayed overnight in a roomy two-bed room, and having the bath and toilet in separate spaces made it feel like a mansion unit. The free bottled water at check-in and the included bento breakfast were nice extras. Everything was neat and tidy, though the room slippers were uncomfortable and could do with replacing. It’s pretty close to the station, with a Family Mart nearby and a general merchandise shop that has cat products. 🐱

The room was spacious, with a large bed, shower and bathtub, and a TV. Service was very professional, and even though the staff’s English was somewhat limited, they were nice. I also got a welcome drink for free.

The staff at the front desk were kind and helpful, and offered advice whenever I asked. Parking was easy, with plenty of space. It was my first time there, and I found the hotel a little hard to locate. A restaurant is nearby, and the hotel recommended Chinese restaurant KiKi. That evening I also walked a short way to Yakitori Gotsubo. I think Gotsubo opened in 2024 after a long run near Dutch Hill, when the owner decided to open a place in his hometown of Isahaya. It’s homey and reasonably priced, but has limited seats, so call ahead to see if there’s room. I stayed near the Isahaya Sankai Festival. The room was new and clean, with a foot massager, and the double bed in my single room was large enough for two. The top-floor public bath was really just three washbasins and one shower booth, but I still enjoyed a long soak. 😌♨️

The neighborhood is quiet despite being close to the station. Convenience stores and places to eat, like izakayas and yakitori restaurants, are within five minutes, and I slept without being disturbed. For the price per night, I’m very satisfied. I came back for a family reunion, and the guest room and bathroom were spotless, which matters a lot to me. There’s a permanent air purifier to help with odors, plus unscented air spray in the room. The large public bath is my favorite part. I couldn’t use the sauna because it’s for men only, but a long soak in the bath was great. Breakfast has returned after being unavailable since the coronavirus outbreak. The selection was limited but enough for me, and the special hamburger was delicious. It seems they’re open at night, too. The window view is great.
