A small, simple guesthouse with just a handful of rooms, apparently run by a kind family. Most bathrooms are shared, as are the showers, which you reserve ahead. Breakfast is included, and we managed with a little Japanese and English. You can get nihon-shu (sake) in the evening. The hosts were so generous with snacks and drinks, and the whole experience was lovely.

The building is old but fully renovated, and the rooms and common areas are lovely and super clean. There are shared toilets and shared showers and baths in a sento style. The food was amazing. Ohyama is known for tofu, and it really was tofu paradise on a plate. They also handled my vegetarian diet without any problem. The owners were helpful and friendly, and it was great value for the price.

The staff are friendly and easy to get along with. The inn has a real sense of history, and inside there's a retro Showa-era feel. Foreign visitors might enjoy the nostalgic interior and the amazing bath. They have amenities, too.

Dinner was great, with all those tofu dishes. The room got really cold at night, though, even with the heater on.

We had a lovely view from our 22-tatami room while it was snowing. Four of us stayed the night before an event in Isehara. The staff were very kind, and I'll definitely come back. Thank you very much.
