Lulaliya

The place is quiet, check-in was easy, and the staff are super nice. The small rooms feel very cosy, and the amenities like towels, toothbrushes, and a hairdryer are really good. It could use a bit of a refresh or some decoration. One small annoyance was having to go downstairs to reach the toilets and bathroom.

The owners and staff were SUPER lovely, and we really enjoyed our stay. They helped us arrange ebikes and gave us a nice itinerary around Kabira bay. We also got some snorkeling gear there, which was nice. They made the whole stay so good, and we’d definitely recommend the place. Hope we can come back soon! 🥰

Having our own transport was essential, since Kaibara is a bit far from the city. I rented a motorbike in town, and I’d recommend arranging transport. I was really happy to stay at Lulaliya and meet Hiroki and the staff. They were kind, friendly, and informative about the area and activities. The facilities were clean and well maintained. I’ll definitely come back :)

We found Lulaliya for under $100 CAD a night, which was great value when accommodation on Ishigaki was going for around $200 CAD per night. The hotel was very clean, had strong A/C, and was in a great location. Kabira Bay is an easy walk away, and nearby beaches, a waterfall, and other sights are a short drive. We rented a car to see more of the island. It’s hard to get around without one. The best Ishigaki beef and local sushi we had was at Sushi Jinbei, just a five-minute walk away. The family who runs the hotel were so kind and friendly. Staff greeted us warmly, showed us around, and shared lots of tips about what to do and where to eat. They also helped us book activities. We met the owner’s wife and sons. The rooftop patio was beautiful, with views of the mountain, ocean, sunrise, and sunset. I don’t think there’s another nearby place with a rooftop patio. You can also rent snorkels, surf boards, and other water gear from them very cheaply. A snorkel was 500 yen to use until checkout. We had a room with two twin beds, our own bathroom, and a balcony with storage space and room for one suitcase each. There was a large shared lounge and dining area with no stove, several communal fridges, drinking water, and an outdoor lounge with a hammock. There’s no elevator, so it isn’t accessible, but staff helped carry our suitcases upstairs. My husband and I would definitely stay again and recommend it.
