Hotel Route Inn Ishinomaki Chuo

The staff were caring and quick to help, and the hotel was clean and well kept. I did appreciate how they made use of the limited space. It felt safe and clean, even for someone traveling alone or staying just one night, though there weren't any unnecessary extras. I was told this place is mainly for business travelers on quick stays, and that seems about right. It wouldn't compete with a Westin or a luxury hotel for a vacation. As a Westerner who travels a lot, I was surprised by how tiny the room was, and the bathroom, toilet, and shower were packed into an even smaller space. There was barely room to open a suitcase. The bed wasn't uncomfortable exactly, just not cozy, and the single pillow was too small. I could have used another one, and I'm sure they would have brought one if I'd asked. Breakfast was the worst I had in Japan. Don't expect pastries, eggs, or bacon. It was more like miso and small fish, and I didn't find it as tasty as the kind at a Marriott. I wouldn't even feed it to my children.

I was really happy that the buffet breakfast was included. The twin room was a bit smaller than rooms I've had at other hotels in Japan, but it was still pretty comfortable.

The rooms were clean and cozy, and the staff were very kind. Having a free onsen open until 2 am was a really nice extra. Breakfast could be better, but it was fair for the price.

The room was non-smoking and didn't smell of cigarettes, but the bed was painful. The springs left my body aching, and the lights in the room kept blinking. The location wasn't worth mentioning either.
