There are useful shops nearby, including drugstores, supermarkets, and home improvement stores. The main drawback is that the place feels more like a weekly rental than a hotel. There's no staff at the front desk on site, so paying and getting your luggage can be a hassle. The room is spacious compared with a business hotel, and the interior seems recently renovated and looks nice. There's a small two-door fridge with a freezer, a microwave for frozen food, and a mini-kitchen with an induction cooktop, so you could cook if you bring a pot. Even in Tohoku, the room is well sealed. Once it's warm, I feel like I can leave the air conditioning off for around two hours. You need to put the room key in the slot near the entrance and turn it to use the lights and air conditioning, but the outlets still work, so you can charge a computer and other devices while you're out.
I've been staying here since just after the earthquake. I'm from Saitama. It used to be popular and hard to book, but lately there have been fewer guests because of the reconstruction work, and they've been very welcoming. More than ten years later, the rooms are still cleaner than anywhere else I've stayed in Japan. You take your shoes off and go barefoot, and the bathroom and toilet are separate. There's a fridge, microwave, clothesline, and coin laundry on site, with a convenience store five minutes away. It's a little far from the station, but works really well for solo trips and business travel. After staying here, I don't want to stay anywhere else.
It's cheap, and there's a supermarket, 100-yen shop, home improvement store, and drugstore about a 10-minute walk away. Restaurants are limited, so you'll probably cook or buy bento. The facilities are clean and have the basics. The small fridge and lack of space to put things are minor annoyances I can live with. Wi-Fi sometimes drops while streaming, and the thin walls let me hear my neighbor snoring clearly. You have to pay cash up front, cards aren't accepted, and the price changes with the length of your stay. That can be a hassle if your plans change.
I had a spacious, clean 8-tatami room that felt relaxing, with a kitchen where I could cook. The separate bathroom and toilet were convenient, and the facilities were good enough that I could stay with just the clothes on my back. I'd definitely come back.
I stayed here for a long time while my house was being renovated. They were so kind and the place was so clean that I didn't want to go home, lol. I'm really grateful for all their help.
