We stayed in a dome house that fits five, and it was cozy and comfortable. The room was super clean, WiFi was available, and there was a great view of Mount Omuro. I thought it was reasonably priced, especially since breakfast and dinner were included. For dinner, you can choose between the Aged stake restaurants and BBQ before you book. We went to the Aged stake restaurant, and the steak and lamb were the best I’ve ever had. I tried mixed seafood for the first time too, and really liked it. Breakfast was extraordinary, with lots of different dishes. My favorite was the fresh organic steamed vegetables. I also got to try nagashi somen, a Japanese summer tradition where you catch flowing noodles with chopsticks. That was so much fun! I can’t wait to come back when I’m in Japan again.

The venue is beautiful and the staff were friendly, but the glamping experience was confusing, poorly run, and overpriced. We paid nearly twice the roughly ¥55,000 a night that might have felt reasonable, yet barely got any service. The food was low quality: the pork tasted off, though they were accommodating about changes. The ice cream and bakery goods were good, and breakfast was better than the BBQ. Check-in made a bad first impression. There was no proper counter, just the BBQ and meat shop counter, and when I arrived early there was no staff around. There were no wagons for luggage, so we had to drag our suitcase along uneven, unpaved paths. It was raining, and although there were umbrellas at the café, none were in the tents or check-in area. They didn’t provide one, so we had to run out into the thunder to get one ourselves. There was a barking dog most of the time, and kids were running and stomping around. It definitely felt more like a family location. We had a BBQ in our tent, but I was told it wasn’t part of our plan. I hadn’t realized that when booking. I’d been to other glamping sites and assumed private BBQ dining was standard, but they have different plans here. The teepee layout was odd too. The gap between the entrance and cooking gazebo was only about 40cm, so you had to turn sideways to get through. We’re not overweight, so I can only assume the design was miscalculated. There was no staff around after 10pm, which felt a bit unsafe. The weather wasn’t their fault, but the rain and wind shook the tent all night and we barely slept. The small toilet in the camping area was more basic, while the one near check-in was much nicer. The experience has potential, but for now the value just isn’t there. Honestly, I’d return for the café and skip the glamping. We communicated in Japanese, so this wasn’t a language problem. I can only imagine it would be even more confusing for someone who doesn’t speak Japanese.

It’s luxury camping under the stars in one of my favorite parts of Japan, with a choice of cooking for yourself, sitting down to a five-star gourmet dinner, baking your own pizza, or enjoying artisan French-style pastries. The venues are outstanding and very upscale. I’d highly recommend this place if you want nature along with the option of luxury and service.

The cedar trees brought on our hay fever at its worst, and I wish the shop had medicine available. Even so, we had an unforgettable first glamping trip. My kids enjoyed it so much, the food was delicious, the facilities were good, and the staff were very accommodating. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend this glamping resort. Thank you Kanade no Mori Resort!

A new venue for visitors to Izu Peninsula, with excellent facilities, an on-site shop, a French bakery, and two restaurants.
