Sundance Resort Izukogen ANNEX

It's very quiet here, with only about eight rooms and perhaps four occupied during our stay. The onsen was pleasant and barely used, though at times the hotel felt almost too quiet. Rain meant we couldn't really enjoy the view from our room, but we could borrow umbrellas. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. They picked us up at the station and drove us back there when we left. Walking around isn't especially easy, but we managed with the bus and on foot. A car would be better. There are two Sundance Resorts nearby, so make sure you're heading to the right one. We stayed two nights and still had a good time despite the bad weather.

Dinner and breakfast were both really nice. We booked the full board option and got typical, high quality Japanese meals. The staff were friendly, and the tall older man spoke fluent English. He gave us detailed instructions about pretty much everything during the stay. It's about a 10-minute drive to Mt. Omuro, which makes it a good base for visiting. Google Maps sent us to the wrong location a few minutes away, though, so we had to correct our route.

The kids loved staying here, especially my 4-year-old and 2-year-old. There's a playroom for children, along with a relaxing room and a library corner with kids' books. The place was clean and comfortable, and we had a great time. They've also redone the beautiful garden. It was so peaceful to walk there early in the morning and listen to the birds.

The room had lovely views, and the hotel was very clean. Good food and service too.
