City Hotel Ando

The staff were friendly and helpful, and breakfast was okay, but the hotel itself was run-down and dirty. Our room smelled so bad that even spraying air freshener didn’t make it bearable, and the bathroom smelled worse. The ventilation was poor, so we had to keep the bathroom door shut to stop the odor building up. There was a thick layer of dust, about three-quarters of an inch, on the heater/AC and the air vent. I wiped the bathroom walls and the rag came away dirty. It was a cheap hotel, but I wish I’d paid more for somewhere more comfortable.

The rooms were really nice and breakfast was very good, but parking was a problem. I’d give it five stars if there were enough spaces.

Food choices are limited if you’re not Japanese. The rooms are very cramped, though that may be common across Japan.

It’s an inexpensive place to stay, and the price is right. The WiFi was weak in my room, which was the last one on the north side.
