The food was good, but for what I paid, the staff and service didn't feel as professional or as good as at other ryokans. There are brilliant ryokans in Japan that offer better quality, atmosphere, and service, usually for less. I'm never coming back. Water from the outside bath above was leaking into the outside bath by my room. I complained, but none of the staff apologized, and they acted like it was normal. SHAME.

A quiet, restful slice of heaven in the mountains of Izu. The rooms have private onsens overlooking the river, and they're lovely. Service was good, and the Arcana restaurant serves exquisite French food prepared by some of the most meticulous Japanese chefs I've seen. A magical place.

The rooms are beautiful, each with its own private onsen on the riverbank. The service was excellent, and the food was elaborate, incredible, and technically perfect. Truly one of the best meals I've ever had. Highly recommended.

The room is in a modern, open-plan building, and I found the hotel's private open-air bath very relaxing. The meals were healthy and delicious, and left me impressed. I think you'd enjoy visiting.

For 180K jpy, the service was extremely poor. I ended up cancelling my reservation because they wouldn't offer a vegetarian meal option. Apparently they don't allow any changes to the menu because it creates extra work for them, and they rudely told me to cancel. That was the first and only email they sent me. I spoke with the general manager on the phone, and he was even ruder. That was when I'd had enough. Funny that a supposedly “luxury” ryokan can't provide luxury service. Good luck when international tourists return. [not even 1 star]
