We’ve never had food this delicious. The setting, service, and meals were all perfect.

The view from the room was stunning, and it felt worth the effort to get here even though the location might be hard to reach for some. The room was spacious, with several ways to keep warm, including floor heating and air conditioning. The private onsen was incredibly relaxing. Everyone on staff was friendly and hospitable, and they did their best to make things understandable in English. We were welcomed with snacks, tea, and complimentary gifts. The meals were generous, with several courses and dessert, followed by tea or coffee, and breakfast was included.

For the price, this was the worst hotel I’ve stayed at in the Nishi Izu area. I’d recommend considering Fugaku Gunjo or Mayu Futahari, which are a similar distance away. The Fuji view was only so-so, since this hotel is much farther west than Fugaku Gunjo, even though its restaurant is one of the better spots for seeing the mountain. I was given an okay seat on the first day when the restaurant wasn’t full. On the second day, despite staying two nights, they put me at a table facing the kitchen and front door, where nobody had sat the day before. I felt this was rude and racist toward a foreign guest, and it made me wonder if they simply don’t welcome guests staying more than one night. The food was the worst part. Some sashimi tasted as if it had just been thawed from frozen and wasn’t fresh at all. I’d just returned from luxury hotels in Ise, where I’d eaten plenty of abalone, lobster, and other seafood, so I know what good seafood tastes like. The ingredients here didn’t feel top quality, and the hotel was three stars at most. The place also smelled like a cheap nikuyaki restaurant, so I wouldn’t wear my best clothes. I’ve stayed at Shigira Mirage in Okinawa and learned what a proper teppanyaki restaurant in a luxury hotel can be like. This wasn’t comparable. I saw only one teppan, which felt embarrassing. The English service was awful. I don’t think any staff member spoke proper English, and I felt I might be treated as second class if I didn’t speak good Japanese. When I complained, the manager looked at me as if they couldn’t understand English and didn’t apologize at all. The service struck me as arrogant and rubbish. The cleanliness was another problem; my photos would give you a nightmare, which I thought was a joke for a three-star hotel. I don’t normally leave bad reviews, but this restaurant’s behavior really irritated me. I’ve stayed at multiple luxury hotels, including Amanemu, and feel I have a basic idea of hospitality. This place was far below the proper standard, in my view.

We’ve come here three times now, and the room is lovely, with a fantastic view of Mt. Fuji. Dinner was impressive too. Thanks to staff member Mr. Umezu for taking such good care of us.

It’s a modern, decent hotel, with spacious rooms, friendly staff, and a nice view. Some of the team can speak English. The welcome cake and drink were a thoughtful touch, and the warm floor in the guest room was especially nice in cold weather. We really enjoyed the dinner. Couples looking for a quiet, romantic night would suit this place well. It is quite small, though, so there isn’t much to do on site. Lovers Cape and the nearby area are worth considering.
