We were comfortable in a clean, roomy room, and the baths were lovely. The staff were especially kind and helpful, even though we know very little Japanese. The food was fresh, light, and incredible. If you get the chance, definitely go.

The meals were generous and carefully prepared, with traditional Japanese breakfasts and dinners included in the half-board. There were plenty of choices, and drinks were reasonably priced, though a few dishes may be a challenge for Western tastes. The property itself is peaceful and beautifully kept, with four shared hot springs, three private ones you can reserve, and an unusual outdoor cold pool. Our room also had its own riverside outdoor tub, which made it easy to unwind. The hospitality felt sincere throughout. After checkout, a staff member even hurried after us to return a 50 yen coin found in our room.

We took a chance on an unfamiliar place for the last two nights of our Japan trip and ended up completely charmed. The suite had traditional tatami floors, everything we needed, and lovely views and sounds from the river. Having a private onsen in the room was the best part. The food was beautifully prepared and presented, and the staff were warm and accommodating. For what you get, this ryokan is such good value. I can't imagine a five-star hotel doing better. We’ll make a point of coming back and have already recommended it to everyone we know planning a visit.

Such a peaceful, gorgeous resort. Our room was spotless and nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly and spoke English well. They even made us origami.

The in-room hot spring tub sat in a little bamboo garden, and the rain falling while I soaked was unforgettable. This is a great countryside spot if you want to switch off, enjoy an outdoor bath, or have a delicious Kaiseki meal. The traditional Japanese sweets were really good too. Japanese hospitality at its finest, highly recommend.
