I stayed eight nights in mid-February and this has become my favorite hotel in the three star category. I used to live in Kyoto and visit at least once a year, so I've stayed at plenty of hotels here. It was the little practical details that made this one stand out. The location is hard to beat, with shopping, food, and transport all within walking distance. The room is simple but thoughtfully arranged and well equipped, and the hotel is brand new. I especially liked having a separate shower and toilet. The shower was a full body jet shower, something I hadn't seen in a hotel in Japan, and it felt invigorating. The window could be opened for fresh air, though mine was frosted so there was no view. There was an air cleaner, and the bed was very comfortable with two pillow types. It was much nicer than the bed at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in Tokyo, where I stayed on the way home for more than double the price. Breakfast was free, simple, and good. The 24 hour breakfast area had both large and small tables, handy if you need to work. Laundry machines on the third floor cost 300 yen for a wash or 600 yen for wash and dry, detergent included. They had PIN locks, so nobody could take the laundry out if you were late collecting it. Basic toiletries, including pajamas, were available free in the lobby. The hotel is described as unmanned, but staff were always available if you rang the front desk bell. I'll definitely stay again.
Even with our 11 AM arrival, hours before the 3 PM check-in, they stored our bags without a fuss. The reception is staffed around the clock, and the people there kindly helped us with the machine check-in anyway. Check-outs are machine-based too, but help is available if needed. I also loved how little we had to bring. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, brushes, other essentials, and comfy pyjamas were provided. Breakfast was another bonus: although we booked online without it, it was included and made mornings easier. After trying several places around Japan, this was easily my favorite, and it beat the other hotels on the trip. I’d gladly return and recommend it to anyone visiting Kyoto. I only wish we’d added a few more nights there, because I’d definitely have spent them here.
The room was spotless and surprisingly roomy for Japan, and there’s a washer and dryer on every floor. We stayed seven nights and were really impressed by the facilities and service. It’s also handy for the main bus and subway lines. Wakaba Kazuchiko(forgive my terrible memory if I remember wrong) was so patient and helpful when she helped us find a shop selling an adaptor. We’d definitely come back to Kyoto.
The Wi-Fi gave us and some other guests trouble at first, with login, speed, and stability, though it seemed to improve while we were there. If they can keep the connection stable, I’d rate the hotel four stars. It’s a very nice, relatively new place in a good spot, with rooms larger than you usually get in this category in Japan. There are lots of amenities and services, including breakfast at no extra charge and a pay-per-use washing machine.
There’s complimentary breakfast and laundry, and the room is new and perfectly comfortable for a cozy stay. The staff are friendly and helpful. Don’t expect plush amenities or five-star service, though. It works well for active travelers who want a decent ten-hour rest in a nice room, lobby, and restaurant.
