The location is great, just 50m from Yasaka Pagoda and close to lots of well-known tourist streets. Plenty of snack and meal choices nearby. The rooms were spacious and had good air conditioning, which is a must in summer. Laundry and bathroom facilities were good, and we had what we needed for a short stay. Check-in and communication were stressful, mostly because the agency hadn’t passed along key details, like where to find the entry key or where to leave it at checkout.

We stayed as a family of 5 and had a great time. Akemi was a kind, very responsive host. We especially enjoyed the traditional home at the end of a charming alley, in what felt like Kyoto’s most charming neighborhood. The location was perfect.

The old houses have a lovely wooden feel, though the soundproofing isn’t great. It’s a bit of a struggle to get there with luggage, but once you’re settled, walking out is easy. Taxis can come up at night, while daytime access is less ideal with all the tourists. At the end of the alley is “Koizumi-do,” a fortune-telling shop for women. Outside the alley there are shops selling Okamoto kimonos. Yasaka Shrine is walkable on the way toward Kiyomizu-dera Temple, and there are supermarkets and convenience stores along the main street. Staying here has its own special charm.

A very nice traditional house in the middle of the Kiyumizu Temple district. It has a traditional room, two small rooms with western beds, and an equipped kitchen. The bathroom has a washing machine, and the concierge service was very good. Highly recommended!
