I stayed at yuragi in winter. Even with the heater turned all the way up, it was pretty cold.

We picked Iyashi no Ie Inishie because we wanted to see the cranes at the Izumi City Crane Observation Center and needed a pet-friendly inn. The stay lived up to the reviews: homemade pudding 🍮 was delicious, and the separate cottage was a stress-free place to stay with our dog by our side all day and night. I loved the hearth and the unusual Japanese-style bath. Just keep in mind, it’s not a hot spring.
I didn’t have a pet, but the whole-house rental was really comfortable and relaxing. It’s surrounded by rice paddies, with lovely scenery and a quiet atmosphere. I stayed in the "Yuragi" room, where the bathtub is set inside a tatami room with an alcove. That was a unique experience, and the welcome pudding was delicious. You have to take care of most things yourself, but without the usual inn formalities, I found it even more restful. Since it’s surrounded by rice paddies, bring insect repellent in summer.
The owner was so kind and welcoming, and the pudding was especially good. I loved the private detached house, called Yuragi. It was spacious, with a hearth and kitchen, and a bath in the middle of the Japanese-style room. From the garden bench, you could watch the sun set over the rice fields. Flowers and trees surrounded the place and gave it good privacy. I only stayed one night and wished I could have stayed longer. Dinner came from a nearby restaurant at some point between 5:30 and 6:00, which was a little inconvenient. I took it outside and enjoyed it while watching the sunset.
It was nice to sit outside under the umbrella they provided, smoking in a chair and looking up at the dark sky. Smoking isn’t allowed indoors. Compared with a hotel, some things felt inconvenient or lacking, but spending time in an old-fashioned Japanese house was relaxing. For a stay of several nights, I think a night here is a nice change. It made me appreciate the everyday conveniences we take for granted.
