Izumo Hotel The Cliff

I had just one day in Izumo and couldn’t have asked for more. The room and restaurant had incredible views, especially at sunrise and sunset with the moon behind them. The hotel’s design is beautiful, and the staff were attentive and wonderful. They even checked about my food allergies and accommodated them. One lovely waitress, whose name I didn’t catch, spoke great English and wrote down a few of her favorite local spots. I couldn’t make it to the soba shop she suggested because the wait was too long, but that gives me another reason to return. Without a car, you’ll pretty much need a taxi from Izumo or Oda Station. The staff kindly booked one for my departure morning. Kirara Beach is a lovely 30-35 minute walk along the road, with the shoreline and crashing waves to enjoy along the way. I’d gladly stay here again, explore more of the area, and check out those recommendations. Thanks for the hospitality!

Our room had a beautiful view, and the facilities all looked brand new and were spotless. The staff patiently answered our questions with detailed information and were very helpful. Comfortable, modern, and excellent service. I’d highly recommend staying here.

It felt like a privilege to stay here. The sea-view terrace off the wonderful room was impressive, and both the restaurant and breakfast were delicious. The service was incredible, and the whole team welcomed us so warmly. Thank you.

The wagyuu was magnificent, and we got a fantastic sunset too. I loved the idea of industrial-style rooms cut into a bluff right above the Sea of Japan, each with a hot tub looking out over the water. Izumo is a little off the beaten path and doesn’t get swamped by foreign tourists. I’ll definitely come back.
