Toyoko Inn Izumo-shi Ekimae

This is a typical chain hotel you see across Japan. It's close to Izumo station, with parking, breakfast, pajamas, a computer, printer, and laundry facilities. The room was a reasonable size. Breakfast is free and starts at 7 a.m. Their membership deal gives you one free room after ten stays.

The location works well: JR Izumoshi station is right across the street, convenience stores are nearby, and both this hotel and Dormy Inn are close to everything in town. Buses go to the temple, which is still about 20 minutes away. The staff were professional and polite, and the rooms spacious and clean, but I had a terrible night because the bed was too hard and the pillow felt soft until I lay down, then it was hard as a rock. They had no other pillows to offer, so I wasn't comfortable. Next time I'll book Dormy Inn for its more comfortable beds and better options.

A standard Tōyoko Inn right by the station. The staff seemed to speak Japanese well, but little else. It didn't cause me a problem, though I can imagine some travelers finding it difficult. Maybe that's because this area isn't a very well-known international tourist destination.

Right in front of Izumo Station, so the location is good, but the room is tiny. Breakfast is an average Japanese-style spread. It's a really cheap business hotel, fine for people looking to spend as little as possible.
