Vessel Hotel Fukuoka Kaizuka

A bit dated, but clean, and the staff were sincerely helpful. They also gathered all my parcels and kept them safely. Handy if you're driving around.

The parking is nice and free, but I'd tell anyone visiting in winter to avoid staying here. The water system seems to be broken. In the middle of a shower, the water turns cold suddenly and often. Imagine 2 degree C water hitting you on a winter day. I can't understand how this hotel gets such a high score. It made me not want to stay.

The neighborhood is quiet and the location is really convenient. The room was clean, though the design felt dated, and the heater was pretty annoying to listen to. The room is big enough by Japan standards, but the double bed is too small for two people, more suited to a solo traveler. There are loads of free amenities, so you don't need to bring your own.

The rooms have actual space, instead of feeling like the usual tiny Japanese business hotel cells, and the service was excellent even when I checked in very late. Parking is easy and reasonably priced, with lots of spaces right in front, unlimited in and out, and you can leave your car until 5pm. 🤯 I've tried most of the Japanese chains by now, including az, apa, toyoka, route inn, mystays, r9, and vessel consistently beats them. It's within walking distance of the subway too, but if you're driving, stay here, end of story. I've learned my lesson: if there's a vessel in town, that's where I'm staying. Only catch is they don't seem to have as many locations as the other chains.
