Myoko Sunshine Hotel

There were yukata for women and children, and the large public bath had a wide open view. The changing room had lotion, serum, emulsion, face wash, makeup remover, cotton swabs, and brushes. There were no lockers with keys, so having to leave valuables like room keys at the front desk was a bit of a hassle. I went to the large bath using the elevator closer to my room, which seemed to be marked for hotel guests. A cleaner told me that the changing room there was for golf guests, so I had to go down one floor and use the changing room on the other side. It would be helpful if the elevator and that changing room were clearly marked for golf guests too. The information said not to wear yukata into the lobby and other areas, but I saw people in yukata there, including people going to smoke. So I'm not sure how strictly that rule is followed.

The food was tasty, and it's impressive that the golf course and amusement park share the same grounds. We had a twin room with an extra bed. It looks a little old-fashioned, but not so dated that it bothered me.

The staff were kind and helpful, and even though the place is showing its age, it was clean. For a family trip, it's great value. The rooms are spacious, the food is delicious, and I'd recommend it for families with young kids. It has a bit of a youth hostel feel. If you're after golf or other recreational activities and don't expect high-end service, the good food and baths are more than enough. I'd like to visit again.

The views are spectacular at this highland resort hotel, with the building facing Mt. Myoko and a beautiful view of it straight from the window. There's a full 360° panorama of the forest from the observation room above the baths on the 6th floor. The hot spring is a sodium chloride bicarbonate spring, colorless, clear, odorless, and a little slippery. I was here on a weekday overnight for work. At dinner, I had Kiminoi, the local Myoko sake, with a delicious course meal. The golf course and amusement park are part of the resort as well.
