Ooedo Onsen Monogatari Premium Yoshinoya Irokuen

The restaurant looks nice, and both the dinner and breakfast buffets were delicious. The onsen was clean and quite hot, with free ice popsicles and an electronic foot massage machine outside. The room was a little old, but fine, with new tatami flooring. The toilet had a slight sewage smell. The receptionist can speak English. A taxi from the hotel to Katsuyama costs about $15000 and takes 50mins. Taking a taxi can save a lot of time compared with the shuttle and train to fukui.

We loved our stay and would definitely return. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Our large, comfortable traditional tatami room had big windows, a sitting area, and a balcony with a beautiful view. Every room faces the river, and the hotel sits right beside it. The kaiseki dinner was amazing, and breakfast was a huge, varied buffet. The Rotemburo is right next to the river. September can be quiet, with very reasonable rates, so it’s a great time to go.

You can get coffee and soft drinks for free at any time in the hotel, which is more than okay. Parking is limited, though, and you may have to leave your car a few blocks away. That’s not very convenient, and it can be confusing if you don’t speak Japanese.

The hotel’s environment and atmosphere were excellent. The food was so-so, though the add-on crab was really delicious. It’s a pity the Sakura weren’t open yet. I think they were due to open in 2 weeks, and the view should be stunning then. Every room faces the river, so you can enjoy a beer with the view all day. The men’s outdoor hot spring is quite large and has a pretty view. You can also enjoy sake in the afternoon.
